Following an act of vandalism, the rifle butt of the Boar Memorial in Dudley was snapped off. We were tasked with the urgent repair of this damage, with the goal of having the rifle butt reattached in time for Remembrance Sunday.
Fortunately, the break was clean, which allowed for a straightforward restoration process. The two broken surfaces were carefully cleaned, and stainless steel dowels were inserted to provide added structural support. Once prepared, the rifle butt was reattached using a specialist stone adhesive, ensuring a secure and lasting bond.
This restoration not only restored the integrity of the memorial but also ensured that it was ready for the significant occasion of Remembrance Sunday.
